Compensation for the Variable Cyclic Error in Homodyne Laser Interferometers
This paper presents a real-time method to compensate for the variable cyclic error in a homodyne laser interferometer. The parameters describing the quadrature signals of the interferometer are estimated using simple peak value detectors. The cyclic error in the homodyne laser interferometer was then corrected through simple arithmetic calculations of the quadrature signals. A field programmabl...
متن کاملA Resolution Measure for Terrestrial Laser Scanners
Terrestrial laser scanners are increasingly being used for cultural heritage recording and engineering applications that demand high spatial resolution. Knowledge of an instrument’s spatial resolution is necessary in order to prevent aliasing and estimate the level of detail that can be resolved from a scanned point cloud. In the context of laser scanners, spatial resolution can be decoupled in...
متن کاملNew Calibration Scheme for Panoramic Line Scanners
In the DLR department of optical information technology exists long experience and practical knowledge in geometrical calibration of opto-elctronical systems especially CCD-line scanners. An approved method is the single pixel illumination by collimated light. The accuracy of this method depends of the precision of the used goniometer and is in the order of 2 arcsec. The disadvantage of this me...
متن کاملMEMS mirror for low cost laser scanners
Concept and design of a low cost two-axes MEMS scanning mirror with an aperture size of 7 millimetres for a compact automotive LIDAR sensor is presented. Hermetic vacuum encapsulation and stacked vertical comb drives are the key features to enable a large tilt angle of 15 degrees. A tripod MEMS mirror design provides an advantageous ratio of mirror aperture and chip size and allows circular las...
متن کاملError Compensation for Radome Measurements
Geometries for measuring radome characteristics can usually be split into two categories. The first category always has the antenna inside the radome pointing along the range axis. The second category has the antenna maintaining a fixed relationship with respect to the radome during each scan of data. A facility can generally be designed to minimize measurement errors in one of the two geometri...
